Ehsan Abbas is a veteran banker with 27 years experience working with Citibank, First Gulf Bank & Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank. His entrepreneurial endeavors led to the formation of research-based venture: Middle East Global Advisors (MEGA). Since 1992 , MEGA became an intelligence platform covering broad business sectors like finance, investment, innovative technology, leadership, strategy and energy. MEGA’s brands include The World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC) started in 1993 as the world’s first global forum on Islamic Finance. WIBC was developed in Dubai under the Patronage of H.H. Minister of Finance in the UAE & later moved to Bahrain under the Patronage of H.R.H. the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain and enjoys strategic partnership with the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB). MEGA developed and firmly established its portfolio of key global brands in association with high-profile partners like the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Bank of England, Government of Scotland, Central Bank of Malaysia, Central Bank of Sudan, Central Bank of Djibouti and Dubai International Financial Centre, amongst others.
MEGA’s vision is to make its forums a breeding ground for world-class insights attracting a host of global powerhouses to deliver groundbreaking insights and share ideas, in the MENASA region. This vision culminated in the formation of many high-profile summits & Thought Leadership Master Class seminars with leading global thinkers, economists & strategists like Tom Peters, Gary Hamel, Mark Mobius, Michael Porter, Robert Kaplan, Nassim Nicholas Taleb & Nicholas Negroponte, in association with key government ministries, multinational corporations and regulatory authorities throughout MENASA. Ehsan has also served as a non-executive board member in listed & privately-owned companies. Ehsan obtained his academic credentials in the USA where he completed a BA in Economics and an MA in International Relations.
